Nioh 3: Ninja's Text Locations & Interactive Tracking Guide

Ninja's Texts are rarer than Ninja's Locks and matter more per pickup — each one permanently increases your Ninjutsu Skill Capacity, the hard ceiling on how many active Ninjutsu techniques you can equip simultaneously.

There are 13 confirmed Ninja's Text locations in Nioh 3, spread across Warring States, Heian, and Bakumatsu, all marked with exact traversal instructions on our Nioh 3 interactive maps.

Ninja's Texts vs Ninja's Locks: A Critical Distinction

Three different item types develop the Ninja Style, and conflating them causes real build planning errors:

• Ninja's Locks are Ninjutsu Skill Points — they fund the tree, unlocking individual nodes.
• Handbooks add entirely new skills to the tree that can't be unlocked otherwise.
• Ninja's Texts are different from both — they expand the capacity pool, determining how many active skills you can have equipped at once. You can unlock every Ninjutsu node in the tree using Locks, but without enough Ninja's Text capacity, you still can't have all of them active simultaneously.

What Skill Capacity Actually Does

In the Skill Management menu (accessible at any Shrine or Bodhisattva Statue), the Ninja sub-menu displays your current total Skill Capacity.

Each Secret Skills Text and active art has a capacity cost — typically 1–3 points each. Every Ninja's Text you find permanently raises the maximum, allowing a more versatile active loadout without swapping skills mid-exploration.

The most impactful builds require both maximum capacity (from Ninja's Texts) and a broad skill library (from Ninja's Locks and Handbooks).

Six Entries With Specific Access Requirements

Half of the 13 Ninja's Texts are not straightforward corpse or chest pickups — they require specific environmental actions or enemy defeats:

• Futamata Canyon (Warring States) — in a narrow canyon past a falling boulder trap. The boulder activates when you walk underneath; hug the wall and sprint through.

• Hamamatsu Castle Town (Warring States, Crucible) — inside a locked room requiring you to cross rooftops, drop through a hole in the roof, and defeat Rokurokubi before the chest becomes accessible.

• Hamamatsu Hill mine (Warring States) — in a locked enclosure reached by dropping through a hole after crossing the eastern tunnel. The chest is below, not in the main shaft.

• Iinoya forest cabin (Warring States) — in the backyard of a hut, behind a rice paper wall, inside the cabin. Hit the paper wall to open the path.

• Hachijo Raiju room (Heian) — on the balcony of the room where Raiju is fought. Accessible only by climbing the Spirit Vein behind the Raiju after the fight — not before.

• Saigagake Castle clearing (Warring States) — guarded by the Magatsu Warrior Crucible Wraith. Defeating it is required before the corpses in the clearing can be looted.

• Warring States (6 Texts): Futamata canyon (boulder trap), Iinoya forest cabin (rice paper wall), Tokaido pond chest, Hamamatsu Castle Town Clan Estate Crucible (Rokurokubi), Hamamatsu Hill mine (roof drop), Saigagake Castle clearing (Magatsu Warrior Wraith).

• Heian (5 Texts): Nishiichi flooded red tower chest, Hachijo demolished house roof, Hachijo Raiju room balcony (Spirit Vein), Matsuo-taisha Shrine central courtyard fire podium, Rokuhara pagoda top floor (Spirit Vein).

• Bakumatsu (2 Texts): Shimabara pleasure house ground floor chest, Kiyomizu central cliff edge corpse.
